A traditional century old recipe enjoyed across the country. Use our Knauss Dried Beef in this recipe to make a delicious topping for toast, biscuits, baked potatoes, home fries, noodles, pizza, rice and more.

  • Knauss Dried Beef
  • 4   Tbsp. Butter
  • 4   Tbsp. Flour
  • 2½ cups Milk

Shred dried beef and brown lightly with butter in skillet.  Mix in flour, and then stir in milk.  Cook until thickened over low/medium heat. Option #1:  Add 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce for a hearty flavor. Option #2:  Add 1/2 cup sour cream for a rich flavor. Option #3:  Add 1/4 tsp. chili pepper and 1/4 tsp. cumin for a Southwestern flavor. Serve over toast, biscuits, baked potatoes, home fries, noodles, pizza, or rice.

    The recipe is correct.
I would add that you have to bring it all back to boil after you combine all ingredients, otherwise, yes you do have a soup.
So keep at it. Bring to boil, keep stirring and it will thicken up!

I purchased your 3 oz. packages of dried beef to make creamed beef on toast, following your recipe on the package, 3 ozs. dried beef, 4 tbsp. butter, 4 tbsp. flour, and 2 1/2 cups of milk. It essentially makes soup and is too liquid. I am wondering if you are aware of this. Such a sad waste.

I’d like to buy a box of the creamed chip beef but I’m not sure where I can buy it, how much it would cost and how many packs come in a box. I’ve tried multiple store for more than a month but cannot find the CREAMED chip beef anywhere. Help:
